As Disney’s all-encompassing convention celebrating the company’s past, present, and future, the 2019 D23 Expo, quickly approaches, we here at ToughPigs have been wondering if the Muppets will have any kind of a presence at this company-wide event. (I don’t know if you can tell, but we kinda like the Muppets around here.)
Well, today there was some good news: Kermit the Frog will definitely be at this year’s Expo! And in a rare change of pace, our favorite amphibian will be moderating a panel with the cast and crew of two of Disney Channel’s animated series, Amphibia and Big City Greens. (Two very appropriately titled shows to be discussed by Kermit!)
On Saturday, August 24th, Kermit will interview Amphibia stars Bill Farmer, Amanda Leighton, and Justin Felbinger and series creator/executive producer Matt Braly, along with Big City Greens cast members Marieve Herington and Bob Joles and creators/executive producers Chris and Shane Houghton. (Sadly, there’s no word yet if the enigmatic voice of Dr. Enamel will appear.)
The D23 Expo takes place Friday, August 23rd through Sunday, August 25th at the Anaheim Convention Center in Anaheim, CA. Tickets are currently sold out for Saturday, but Friday and Sunday are available here.
Now, just in case anybody at Disney is reading this, I’d like to address this next part to them:
Look, it’s really nice that Kermit will be part of the Expo this year. But Muppet fans are starting to go stir crazy waiting for the next big Muppet project. (Heck, I just wondered if the Muppets died at the end of The Muppet Movie. Clearly, madness is starting to take hold.) We’ve been teased several times that something is going to happen with the Muppets, whether it’s a new series with Josh Gad or shorts, or “a big surprise,” and we’re getting a bit restless. And we all know that having the Muppets at the D23 Expo is an easy way to have a memorable moment. So please, don’t just bring Kermit. Bring Miss Piggy. Bring Fozzie Bear. Bring Gonzo, Rowlf, Animal, Sam the Eagle, Walter, Uncle Deadly and every member of The Electric Mayhem. Bring Wayne and Wanda, while you’re at it. Bring the Muppets. And give Muppet fans something to look forward to.
But thanks for bringing Kermit. We’re sure fans of Amphibia and Big City Greens will love him. I know we do.
