The good news: Muppet*Vision 3D isn’t dead yet. The bad news: it just got more difficult to enjoy the beloved attraction.
According to WDW News Today, the wave of closings, seasonal operations, and reduced hours at Walt Disney World has finally reached Kermit the Frog and company. Effective immediately, Muppet*Vision 3D will be open daily from 10 AM to 6 PM, regardless of Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ operating hours. This comes after PizzeRizzo recently moved to seasonal operation (though we don’t officially know yet when or if it will reopen).
Meanwhile, this is just the latest in the line of indignities the attraction has suffered. Over the last couple of years, the entrance facade to the attraction was replaced with a more utilitarian marquee, and then the famed balloon was removed and then shredded to be put in pins. On top of all this, the whole area was renamed Muppets Courtyard… until it wasn’t.
I’ll be honest: I wish I knew or understood what Disney’s plan for the Muppets was at the parks, but I don’t. Right now, it doesn’t look encouraging. All I can suggest is that if you’re going to Walt Disney World, please make a plan to visit the attraction. And be sure to let Disney know how much you love and care about Muppet*Vision 3D. The curtain hasn’t gone down yet on this fantastic experience, but it may take a little effort to keep the projector rolling.
