StoryTeller comics coming soon!

See below for an UPDATE with more details and pictures!

storytellerThe half of The Jim Henson Hour dedicated to The StoryTeller was pretty dang awesome. Take some cutting edge puppetry and digital effects, add a few mish-mashed myths, a dash of John Hurt, and a scrappy dog performed by Brian Henson, and you’ve got something special.

Thankfully Archaia Comics noticed that too, and they’ll be continuing their relationship with The Jim Henson Company by publishing three untold StoryTeller episodes in comic form. The scripts were written by the late Anthony Minghella, who wrote all nine episodes of the original series.

Archaia will be releasing more information about these books at WonderCon in San Fransisco this weekend. Personally, I’m holding out hope for some audio narration by John Hurt and Brian Henson, but somehow I doubt that’ll happen.

UPDATE: After our initial article, Comic Book Resources posted an interview with Archaia editor Nate Cosby. According to the article, among the talent cherry-picked to work on the StoryTeller graphic novel are Roger Langridge, Jimmy Palmiotti and Justin Gray, Jeff Parker, Paul Tobin, Colleen Coover, Francesco Francavilla, Brian Clevinger, Tom Fowler, Marjorie Liu, Evan Shaner, Jennifer Meyer, Katie Cook, Chris Eliopoulos, Ron Marz, Jim McCann, Janet Lee and more. I mean, wow.

Another detail included in the interview is that the graphic novel will be a 100-page one-shot hardcover. So rather than get a mini-series to collect, we’ll be getting the whole shebang in one salad. Or if you prefer, the whole salad in one big shebang.

Most exciting is the inclusion of some sample art. Below, you’ll see art from Janet K. Lee, Evan “Doc” Shaner, Roger Langridge, and Katie Cook! Give them a click to see them in their full glory.
