Sesame Workshop has announced that Sherrie Westin is stepping up as the organization’s new CEO.

Westin joined the Sesame Workshop team in 1998, and she has held several high-ranking positions within the organization. Most recently, she served as Sesame Workshop President and Chair of the Joan Ganz Cooney Center. She also served as interim CEO over the past few months after the departure of previous CEO Steve Youngwood.

Westin is also Sesame Workshop’s first female CEO since Joan Ganz Cooney. And thanks to Westin’s close relationship with Cooney, we’re sure she’ll keep many of the organization’s original ethos alive.

Time will tell how Westin’s leadership will continue to affect and change Sesame Street and Sesame Workshop, but by elevating someone with such a strong history with the company, we have faith that good things are ahead.
