Sesame Street has been incredible about being on top of current events over the past few years to help teach kids about COVID safety, distanced learning, and staying respectful to others. One topic, which was touched upon in several of Sesame Workshop’s collaborative events with CNN, is race. And to help illustrate these important topics to preschoolers, Sesame Street will be introducing two new characters.

Meet Wes and Elijah. Wes is a 5-year-old kid with a big imagination and a lot of emotions. Elijah is his meteorologist dad, and the duo will help teach lessons about racial identity and literacy. Puppeteer Bradley Freeman will be performing Wes, while Chris Thomas Hayes will be performing Elijah.

Stay tuned to find out when and where these two new characters will be appearing!
