A lot of news and information about the currently-filming The Muppets… Again! has hit the internet over the past few weeks. Recently, an item popped that got Irish Muppet fans really excited, at least for a few minutes: The Muppets would be filming part of the new movie in Dublin! The story spread quickly on Irish news and pop culture websites, probably because — well, is it offensive to say that Irish people love Kermit because he’s green?
Unfortunately, the story turned out to be a bit of a horse’s hoof, as they say on the Emerald Isle (at least according this online guide to Irish slang I found). This story from The Irish Sun explains, with a quote from Disney:
Just to clarify the confirmed details. Dublin has been added to the list of tour locations which the Muppets will perform in during their global tour IN THE MOVIE The Muppets Again! Apologies for any confusion.
So it’s most likely only the fictional Muppets who will be traveling to Dublin as part of the film’s story, not the real-life Muppets. It’s disappointing for the Irish fans, but at least we’ll always have The Leprechaun Brothers.
