After Jerry Nelson passed away last year, Sesame Workshop went to work on paying tribute to him in a special episode of Sesame Street. But because some things are planned so far in advance, it took a while before the episode made it to air. We’re pleased to learn that this time has come, and the episode will be airing this Thursday, October 31st!
The episode will feature Jerry’s most famous Sesame Street character The Count, or rather, it won’t. You see, The Count is being honored with an award, but he’s nowhere to be found. So his Sesame friends get into a few shenanigans to try and delay the festivities until The Count arrives. Emphasis on the “shenanigans”.
We caught a preview of the episode, and it’s fantastic. It’s funny, deep, and you might even mist up a little. I know I did.
We’ll have our review of the episode up soon, as well as some exclusive interviews from the set of Sesame Street with some of the performers who knew Jerry best.
Remember, October 31st: The Jerry Nelson tribute on Sesame Street! Check your local PBS listings for the time.
