Great news, Sesame Street fans! There’s a new theme park dark ride starring Sesame characters at Universal Studios! It’s the first-ever “immersive Sesame Street theme park ride.” The bad news: It’s only at Universal Studios Singapore. (I suppose that’s still good news if you live in Singapore. If you do, may I just say: Hello, person in Singapore!)
It’s called “Sesame Street Spaghetti Space Chase,” and you can read all about it in this Travel Blackboard article, but the premise of the ride’s story is simple: All the spaghetti on Sesame Street is missing, so Elmo and Super Grover 2.0 and the other Muppet characters go to outer space to find it. I’m pretty sure it’s also the only outer space-set, spaghetti-based theme park ride in the world.
Here’s a report on the ride from Imagine TV Network, including a glimpse of three characters created especially for the ride:
Here’s a video including some shaky footage taken inside the ride itself (SPOILERS!):
And here’s a video of the ride’s grand opening, which is perhaps most notable for the fact that it features new audio of Elmo. (Word has it that Elmo’s voice may have been provided by Peter Linz for this recording, but it’s important to note that no official recast decision has been made.)
We’ll cross our fingers (but not hold our breath) and hope that the ride eventually finds its way to this continent, but in the meantime, if anyone out there happens to experience this ride, drop us a line and let us know how it is!
