Many moons ago, Sesame Street began its global conquest mission to become the longest street in the world, and it has mostly succeeded. They’ve conquered New York, taken on the likes of Germany and Mexico, and have set up out-posts in Pennsylvania, Florida, and Texas (well, okay, that one didn’t really pan out). Now, the West Coast of the Continental United States are in for a surprise, as they too will be getting their own Sesame Street – or more accurately, their own Sesame Place!
That’s right, friends. Sesame Place San Diego is a-comin’ to California, opening next month on March 23. It was announced a long while ago, but the pandemic kinda put a kink in the plans for a bit. But they’re now ready to open to the public! The park will be taking the place of the former Aquatica theme park, so there’s a lot of opportunities to get wet and such. Beyond water rides, the park will have plenty of dry rides, games, costumed meet-and-greets, live shows, and an interactive version of the Sesame Street set, which hopefully means you can get an authentic Hooper’s birdseed milkshake. Check out this concept art below:
Looks like a lotta fun! I don’t know about you, but 7 year-old me would have gone nuts over the fact that the Honkers get their own ride. What a time to be alive. You can find out more about the new park on their official website.
