Sesame Street to Receive Kennedy Center Honor

The Kennedy Center Honors is an annual event that recognizes some of the world’s greatest performing artists.  It is wonderful to learn that Sesame Street will be among this year’s honorees.

According to the New York Times, this is only the second time a production (as opposed to a performer) has been honored by the Kennedy Center.  The first being Hamilton, just one year ago.

The other honorees this year will include Muppet Show guest star Linda Ronstadt, Sesame Street guest star Sally Field, and appeared-on-the-Muppets-From-Space-soundtrack Earth, Wind & Fire.

The ceremony will be held on December 8th, with the televised version airing on CBS on December 15th.  Sesame Workshop co-founders Joan Ganz Cooney and Lloyd Morrisette will be present to accept the award.

Congratulations to everyone at Sesame Street for this incredible honor!  And stay tuned to ToughPigs for more news as we share video from the event in December.
