As some of you may or may not know, when Sesame Street‘s Rosita first popped up on our TVs in 1991, she sported a pair of wings. They were very useful in hiding Carmen Osbahr’s head when performing and also gave Rosita a distinct look that helped separate her from a crowded cast of monsters (but weren’t so good for flight). However, in 2004, she was stripped of her wings, reportedly because it made it difficult to design merchandise of her. While Rosita has still remained a unique character, it’s been sad to see a deliberate design choice fall by the wayside like that.
But, there’s no need for tissues now, because Rosita’s got her wings back again! We’ve heard this was at the request of Carmen Osbahr herself, and she would know what’s good for Rosita better than anyone. You can see her newly-restored wings in this new video from Sesame Street in Communities:
