We are saddened to report that Sesame Street composer Stephen J. Lawrence passed away on December 30, 2021 at the age of 82. From 1980 to 2012, Lawrence composed over 150 songs for the show, including such classics as “Fuzzy and Blue (and Orange)” and “If Moon Was Cookie,” to lesser-known but still fun tunes like “Telly’s Aquarium” and “I’m Under the Weather Over You.”
In addition to Sesame Street, Lawrence has worked on a number of other musical projects, including the Henson Company series The Wubbulous World of Dr. Seuss, the TV movie Sooner or Later, and the famous Marlo Thomas album Free to Be…You and Me. His contributions will not be forgotten.
