We are saddened to learn that comedienne Anne Meara passed away this week.  Meara was half of a comedy team with Jerry Stiller, who you may recognize from Seinfeld and King of Queens.  The duo are also the parents to Ben Stiller, who is pretty well-known in his own right.

Anne Meara made several appearances on Shalom Sesame, which we’re pleased to be able to share with you.  First, she called in to the Aleph-Bet Telethon (hosted by her husband Jerry Stiller) to attempt to donate a tree to be planted in Israel.  You can see Meara at around the 10-minute mark below.

Next, she hosted the “Cooking with Miriam” segment of Shalom Sesame‘s Passover episode.  Meara’s segment begins at the 2:30 mark in this video (apologies for the low quality!).

Meara’s final Shalom Sesame is from the “Kids Sing Israel” episode, in which she seems to be having some oven troubles.  This one occurs at the 12-minute mark below.

We’re pleased to see that even a comedy legend like Anne Meara made Shalom Sesame a priority, and that we can count her among the thousands of Muppet-connected celebrities.
