Those Muppets sure are camera hogs! Now that they’ve gotten over 9.6 million (million!!!) views on their Bohemian Rhapsody video, they think they can just show up on any TV show they want! Well, they’re right.
But before we get to the video news, let’s cover the recent goings-on in the world of audio. Bohemian Rhapsody has been so crazy popular that someone decided to make money off of it! The MP3 will soon be available to buy. Click here for more info.
“I Believe“, the song Kermit and Tiffany Thornton sang at the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade is now available to buy for $0.99. That’s only ninety-nine pennies! Of course, I can’t say whether or not it’s worth an almost-buck, but what you do with your money is your own business. Click here to buy the song on iTunes.
Enough of this radio nonsense, let’s look at some Muppets on TV!
The Muppets appeared with Andrea Bocelli on Bocelli and David Foster’s PBS special, “My Christmas”. They sang that toe-tappin’ song “Jingle Bells”. If you asked me, the performance was pretty dullsville, but the Muppets do get a standing ovation, so I guess they’re doing something right.
In case one performance of “Jingle Bells” wasn’t enough, the Muppets appeared on The Jay Leno Show with Andrea Bocelli to sing the song once again. The song isn’t any funnier, which is unfortunate for Jay Leno, who wasn’t funny to begin with.
In the last season of 30 Rock, we got to see Muppetized versions of the main cast. In a surprise cameo (which I am spoiling for you right now), Kenneth the NBC Page is seen in Muppet-form. The jury’s still out on whether the puppet is official or an FAO Schwarz Whatnot, but it’s a funny gag nonetheless.
The Muppets did not appear on Saturday Night Live this past weekend. But Andy Samberg-ized versions of the Muppets did! The SNL cast reprised their roles as a handful of the Muppets to sing a song with Blake Lively. And no, we do not know why the Swedish Chef is wearing gloves. That’s just wrong. Sick and wrong.
Lastly, last year’s Muppet Christmas special Letters to Santa is now available to watch for free on Hulu.com until December 20. So you can put off buying the DVD until next year.
