We’ve known Frank Oz is a legend for years. Heck, we knew before Disney did! And now, the Museum of the Moving Image is celebrating the man, the myth and the legend, with a two-month screening series of his works, “The Magic of Oz: A Frank Oz Retrospective.”
Running from October 4 through November 30, the retrospective will showcase every feature film Oz has directed, along with some of his performing highlights. Never seen Housesitter or Death at a Funeral? You can see them there! And of course, there will be Muppet stuff too. We think he worked on one of their movies or something like that. Here’s the full Muppet/Henson listing:
- A Spotlight on Miss Piggy (with Craig Shemin, President of The Jim Henson Legacy in person) – October 5 & 6 at 1 PM
- The Muppets Take Manhattan – October 5 & 6 at 3:30 PM (with Frank Oz in person on the 6th), and October 11 at 3 PM
- Muppet Guys Talking (with Frank Oz in person) – October 6 at 6 PM
- The Dark Crystal – October 12 & 13 at 1 PM
- The Best of Frank Oz: Frank’s Favorites (with Craig Shemin in person) – November 16 & 17 at 1 PM
But if you can’t get enough of Frank (and who among us really can?), Oz will also be in attendance for the screenings of Little Shop of Horrors on October 4 and Inside Out with Pete Docter on October 19, as well as Dirty Rotten Scoundrels on November 9, alongside a special guest: Steve Martin! Maybe he’ll smell a bottlecap!
You can find the full listings for these movies and many more on MoMI’s website.
