Marie Severin was trailblazer in the world of comics. As an artist who drew icons like Doctor Strange, Namor the Sub-Mariner, and The Incredible Hulk, as well as the co-creator of Spider-Woman, she was one of the first female artists for Marvel Comics. Sadly, Severin passed away recently at the age of 89.
In addition to her extensive work with Marvel’s superheroes, she also dabbled in the world of Muppets.
In 1985, Star Comics (a division of Marvel) published a Fraggle Rock comic book, and all eight issues were illustrated (beautifully) by Marie Severin.
Also in 1985, Star Comics began publishing a Muppet Babies comic book, and (you guessed it) all 26 issues feature art by Severin.
We are so grateful to Marie Severin for her contribution to the world of Muppets, Fraggles, and Muppet Babies. You and your work will be missed.
