Labyrinth Sequel Has a New Director

There have been rumors and reports surrounding a sequel to the classic Jim Henson film Labyrinth for years. Celebrities and other Hollywood talent have gotten involved and left the project, or enough time has gone on between announcements that we’d practically forgotten that it was ever happening.

According to Deadline, Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson is now attached to direct a sequel to Labyrinth. He will be working from a script written by Maggie Levin.

This is a big shift from the last Labyrinth sequel news we heard – way back in October, 2018 – when Fede Alvarez was attached to write and direct.

So of course, take all of this with several grains of salt. Until a project begins filming, we won’t really know who is attached to write, direct, or star in this movie. But the fact that conversations and deals continue within the Henson Company walls gives me hope that we might see a worthy sequel to the film someday.
