Yesterday, we revealed the shocking news that The Jim Henson Company is rebooting their classic film Labyrinth. A lot of fans are (understandably) upset about the idea, especially since it’s coming so close to David Bowie’s passing.
We now have word from Nicole Perlman, the writer of the script, that many of these facts are not true. The new Labyrinth film is not a reboot. Our best guess is that it’s either a sequel or another story that takes place in the same universe.
Also, this news was not meant to be reported at this time. While it sounded like it was released by The Jim Henson Company, it was instead an unfortunately timed leak.
These new revelations come from Perlman’s Twitter account, seen below.
Not "rebooting" anything, guys.

Henson Co & I started talking in late 2014, so the timing of these rumors is so upsetting. I would never seek to profit from Bowie's death.

Labyrinth is my favorite film from childhood, so I share your concerns that any continuation of the world be handled with love and respect.
