Earlier today, Kermit and Pepe made a rare, exclusive live appearance for D23 members at the flagship Disney Store in New York City’s Times Square. We at ToughPigs are not D23 members, but we managed to get in anyway.
How, you ask? That’s thanks to our friend/rival Ryan Dosier at the Muppet Mindset. Y’see, Ryan lives way out in Illinois, far away from New York City. Since he couldn’t make the trip in, he offered to mail us his D23 card to help us get in the door. And while we’re happy to have gotten away with our long con, we’re moreso grateful to Ryan for letting us impersonate him for a few hours so we could meet the Frog and King Prawn in the flesh felt.
In a nutshell, Kermit and Pepe did a Q&A with the audience (which seemed a little low-key, mainly because they had been awake since 3am for their Good Morning America appearance), showed the new “All I Need is You” music video, and gave away some prizes to trivia-answerers (including a Kermit plush signed by Steve Whitmire!!). But the real highlight was getting the opportunity to have a picture taken with Kermit and Pepe themselves. That’s worth a D23 membership right there.
Thanks to our pal Brad from Stitch Kingdom (who we officially, finally met in person today), we’ve got video of about 2/3 of the Q&A session. Check that out right here:
