If there’s one thing we as Muppet fans can agree on, it’s that we love to buy stuff. And I’m sure the Jim Henson Company would love to be the ones that sell stuff to us, which is why they’ve cut the ribbon on The Jim Henson Company online store.
The new shopping experience features swag from Fraggle Rock, Dinosaur Train, Sid the Science Kid, Farscape, and the Jim Henson Designs.
Among the many different types of merch you can buy, there’s iPhone skins, t-shirts, posters, greeting cards, postcards, DVDs, and toys. The iPhone skins, t-shirts and stationary are all customizable, allowing you to choose backgrounds and clip art to create a unique piece of Henson merchandise.
After playing around with in the Fraggle Rock corner of the store, I started out wary of the options, but quickly warmed up to them. Some of the pictures looks fantastic, like the watercolored Fraggles seen here:
Some are fun like these retro Doozer images:
Some get a little too bizarre for my tastes:
And some of the more “clip art”-looking ones are just plain ugly (Seriously, an afro’ed Gobo? Sleepy Mokey? ‘Special’ Boober?):
Still, I can’t complain because even though I dislike the bulk of these pictures, there are enough options for everyone to find something they really love. And considering we’ve gone so long without any Fraggle merchandise at all, having all these choices is throwing me for a loop. That’s not a bad thing.
