The Jim Henson Exhibition: Imagination Unlimited is on the move once again! And this time, not only do we know where stop #3 is, but stop #4 as well!
From January 12th to May 4th, 2019, the exhibition will heading to the state where Jim Henson was born: Mississippi. You’ll be able to see Bert, Ernie, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, Beaker, Red, Wembley, and more at The Mississippi Arts + Entertainment Experience, better known as The MAX, in Meridian, Mississippi. (That’s about a three-hour drive southeast of Leland, for those looking to make a Jim Henson-Mississippi road trip of it.) Henson was previously honored by the museum with a spot in both its Hall of Fame and Walk of Fame in 2017. And if that weren’t enough, Kermit the Frog is on the The MAX’s Honorary Celebrity Committee alongside the likes of Faith Hill, Morgan Freeman, Britney Spears, and Jimmy Buffett! (Not a bad group indeed!)
And for those hoping the exhibition would make it to the Midwest, you’re in luck, too! After it pulls up stakes in Meridian, the exhibition’s heading to Columbus, Ohio for the summer, running at the Center for Science and Industry from May 24th to September 2nd, 2019. It’s rare for a Jim Henson-related exhibition to stop by the Buckeye State, so be sure to show your support, Ohio-based Muppet fans!
While we don’t have any specifics just yet, the first two stops in Seattle and Los Angeles both offered events and screenings as part of the exhibit’s stay, so we’ll be sure to let you know if anything else is announced for Meridian or Columbus. And of course, if you’re visiting New York City, the permanent version of the exhibition, The Jim Henson Exhibition, can be found at the Museum of the Moving Image. We highly recommend it. (And if you live in the New York area and haven’t seen the exhibition yet… what’s holding you back? It’s been open over a year now. Get to it! Well, during museum operating hours, that is.)
So whether you’re planning to visit in the deep south or the Midwest, Muppet fans will have plenty to enjoy when The Jim Henson Exhibition: Imagination Unlimited rolls into town!
