The legendary George Martin, who produced almost the entire Beatles discography, as well as albums for Elton John, Celine Dion, and John Williams, has sadly passed away.
Although he had an immense influence on the popular music of the 1960s, ’70s, and ’80s, we’re remembering him for one tiny appearance he made on a forgettable Henson Company-produced TV show.
In 1989, George Martin appeared on The Ghost of Faffner Hall as himself, playing piano along with Dire Straits’ Mark Knopfler and The Chieftains’ Paddy Moloney. The sequence takes place inside the imagination of the character Riff, who whistles a tune and finds himself accompanied by the talented trio.
Lucky for us, The Jim Henson Company has uploaded the clip in question to YouTube, which you can watch and whistle along with below.
