Starting in September, 2007, the amazing Henson-inspired museum exhibit, “Jim Henson’s Fantastic World,” toured all over the country. They went from Phoenix, Arizona all the way to Tacoma, Philadelphia, Atlanta, L.A… (note: They actually went to different, but nearby cities). After their stint in Peoria, Illinois, which ends on May 1, 2011, it looked like the tour might be over for a while, as no additional locations had been booked. But the Henson Company has surprised us again by adding one more location by way of New York City.
From July 16, 2011 to January 16, 2012, Jim Henson’s Fantastic World will be on display at the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, Queens! That’s six whole months of puppets on display, videos all about Jim and his legacy, and whatever surprises those wacky Henson folks decide to come up with.
For more details, check out The New York Times’ coverage of the announcement and the Muppet Wiki article for the exhibit.
