It’s been a while since our last spotlight on ToughPigs artist Chris “Smig” Smigliano, and he’s been busy drawing Fraggles and monsters and frogs in the meantime. As you’ll see in a second, Smig has been keeping up with his unique and hilarious brand of Muppet humor, with a touch of pathos as well.
In this first batch, in addition to some art pieces based on puns and wordplay, you’ll find the art he made to honor Jane Henson, as well as an illustration he sent to Jerry Nelson a few years ago, which Jerry then signed and returned to him. Amazing.
Next up, you may have seen these during our huge Threadless Fraggle Rock T-shirt Design Contest coverage, but they’re totally worth sharing again. And in this set, you’ll also find the one design that Smig made that was rejected for unknown reasons: Convincing John.
Lastly, the three images below were drawn by Smig for the 2012 New York Comic Con, where we attended a panel featuring Noel MacNeal, Bonnie Erickson, and Leslie Carrara-Rudolph. I think you can probably figure out which one was meant for whom.
We have a few projects coming down the line very soon featuring more of Smig’s artwork, so stay tuned for those!
And as always, many thanks to Smig for all of his hard work!
