Following Cookie Monster’s amazing and unexpected bid for Saturday Night Live hostery, the good people at SNL made his wish come (close to) true by bringing him on stage for a surprise cameo in last night’s episode!

And if you’re a completist, I also recommend watching the “goodnights” at the end of the episode, in which you can see Cookie Monster, David Rudman, and Matt Vogel, ruining the magic for all the little kids who stayed up way past their bedtime.
Of course, this only comes as a close second to having Cookie Monster actually host the show. Could that be somewhere around the corner? Or is this the only bone Lorne Michaels is planning on throwing us? Either way, this is the greatest Christmas present SNL could have possibly given to Muppet fans. Well played, Saturday Night Live. Well played.
