“The Song of the Cloud Forest” was featured as the second half of a Jim Henson Hour episode, which pretty much means that it’s only been available on bootleg VHS tapes until now. We just got word that the special will be released onto DVD on April 13 at the low low price of $12.98!
The special follows Milton, a toad from an almost extinct species who is trying to find a female counterpart (with the help of a wacky monkey named Wilf). Basically, it’s about some lonely dude trying to get some. I can relate with that. Oh, and it features cameos by Jerry Nelson and Fran Brill. Bonus!
Speaking of bonus, the DVD will also come with an episode of Fraggle Rock (“The River of Life“) and two episodes of Jim Henson’s Animal Show (“Owl and Frog” and “Kangaroo and Frog“).
The big question is, since this is the first DVD release of anything from The Jim Henson Hour since the Storyteller DVDs, will there be more to follow? Or, even better, a full series release of JHH? Yeah, probably not, but I’m gonna go ahead and get my hopes way up high anyway.
