Musical superstar Barbra Streisand has re-opened her vault and selected a collection of previously unreleased songs for a new album titled “Release Me 2”. And whaddya know, she’s including a rendition of “Rainbow Connection”!
Not only will this album feature the classic Muppet song, but she’ll be joined in a duet with Kermit the Frog. Barbra’s version was recorded back in 1979 when the song was still brand new, and we have it on good authority that the Kermit in question will be the original Jim Henson version.
Of course, “Rainbow Connection” was co-written by the great Paul Williams, who also co-wrote the Oscar-winning song “Evergreen” with Streisand.
Surprisingly, Barbra Streisand has never worked directly with the Muppets, so it’s great to see her making a rainbow connection of her own with this classic Muppet song.
“Release Me 2” will be available in stores and online on August 3, 2021.
