That Cookie Monster guy sure is funny. This surely is thanks in part to the many talented writers who’ve given him such amusing things to say over the years. But so much of the credit goes to his performers – Frank Oz, and in more recent years, David Rudman.
We’re pleased to see that Cookie Monster is putting his comedic skills to the test without the help of pre-written scripts, relying on only Rudman’s quick wit and improvisational talents. All of this came last week as Cookie Monster made a surprise appearance at the Second City comedy club.
We don’t yet have full video of the event (though we have put in a request with Sesame Workshop), but you can get a taste in the videos shared to social media below.
We will hold out hope that this isn’t Cookie’s last appearance on stage. And that some other classic Sesame characters might have their turns playing improv games as well. Stay tuned!
