Turkey and gravy. Pumpkin pie and whipped cream. The Dallas Cowboys and Detroit Lions. Some things just belong together on Thanksgiving, just like “Sesame Street” and the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade. And for the forty-seventh time, the gang from the beloved television show will be riding down the streets of Manhattan this Thanksgiving. With appearances dating back to 1974, Sesame’s presence has become as much a mainstay as the likes of Tom Turkey, Snoopy and Santa Claus. That’s some pretty elite company!
This year, the crew on the 1-2-3 Sesame Street float will be joined by actress Ashley Park. Nominated for a Tony Award for her performance in the Broadway production of “Mean Girls,” Park has also appeared in such series as “Emily in Paris,” “Beef,” and the most recent season of “Only Murders in the Building.” As of the writing of this article, we’ve yet to learn what song they’ll be singing or which characters will be on the float, but it’s a safe bet that favorites like Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch, Elmo, Cookie Monster, Abby Cadabby are likely to be there.
Be sure to tune in to the parade telecast live on NBC and Peacock this Thursday, November 23rd to see the tradition continue!
