Last month, the 2010 Daytime Emmy Award nominees were announced, and Sesame Street led the charge with a whopping 14 nominations. Add to that the two for Sid the Science Kid and eight for The Electric Company, and Muppet-related projects really won the day. Y’know, even though nobody won anything yet.
The winners were announced last week, and we’ve got the list of winners that we actually care about! And the Emmy goes to…
Outstanding Children’s Series – The Electric Company
New Approaches – Daytime Children’s – The Electric Company
Outstanding Preschool Children’s Series – Sesame Street
Outstanding Achievement in Costume Design/Styling – Sesame Street
Outstanding Directing in a Children’s Series – Sesame Street
Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation – Peter De Seve, “Abby’s Flying Fairy School” character designer
Outstanding Achievement in Multiple Camera Editing – Sesame Street
Outstanding Achievement in Single Camera Editing – The Electric Company
Outstanding Achievement in Single Camera Photography- The Electric Company
Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing – The Electric Company
Outstanding Writing in a Children’s Series – Sesame Street
And the one category that had Sesame Street fans on the edge of their seat due to having five Sesame performers vying against each other:
Outstanding Performer in a Children’s Series – Kevin Clash AND Joey Mazzarino
Booyah! It’s a tie! So only three Sesame actors and puppeteers are going home empty-handed.
Many congrats to everyone at Sesame Workshop for their Daytime Emmy wins! I can’t wait to see how many they get next year!
