We’re only a few hours into 2018, and we’ve already got our first big Muppet news story!
As seen in an upcoming Disney Junior promo (via @DisneyTVA on Twitter), we now have our first artwork from Muppet Babies. There’s a lot to take in with that tiny image, but here’s what we know:
-We’ve got a logo! It’s nothing like the old one – no heart, no handwritten font. But it does feel familiar and welcoming.
-When compared to our reveal of the cast back in 2016 (remember – ToughPigs broke the news!), 5/6ths of the characters remain about the same.
-Bobbi Baba the sheep is gone, and replaced with a new purple bird character. I guess we’ll find out who she is sometime soon.
-Baby Kermit is still wearing his sailor outfit, Fozzie’s got his propeller beanie, and so on.
-Animal is looking MUCH more Animal than his old Muppet Babies counterpart. He’s red and not pink, he lost the bonnet, and he looks a bit wild and unpredictable.
-Still no sign of Rowlf, Scooter, Skeeter, or any of the other old school characters. There’s a strong possibility that the new show will have a pared-down cast of just six.
-Vampirina is in the show! Just kidding. That would be weird.
Keep your eye on ToughPigs for more Muppet Babies news throughout 2018! And many thanks to Joey Waggoner for the scoop!
