Former US Poet Laureate, author, actress, and civil rights activist Maya Angelou passed away this week at the age of 86.  She has received countless awards and accolades for her poetry and writing, she is fondly remembered for her work in the civil rights movement, and her amazing life can hardly be summarized in just one paragraph. (For more, we wholeheartedly recommend perusing her Wikipedia entry.)

As always, we choose to remember Maya Angelou for her work with the Muppets.  She made several appearances on Sesame Street in which she had her nose grabbed by Natasha, sang a catchy song about her name, played pat-a-cake with Elmo, talked about food with Herry, and appeared (very briefly) in the “Sing” and “New Way to Walk” celebrity montages. And lucky us, all of those are available for viewing below!
