The soundtrack to the classic Jim Henson special Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas is one of my favorite things in the whole world. The songs are beautifully written by the great Paul Williams, with a perfect balance of sentiment, fun, and holiday spirit. And yet, it’s never preachy, it can be enjoyed year-round, and of course, it’s pure Muppet fun.
Last year, we were pleased to learn that the Emmet Otter soundtrack was being released, with a vinyl version exclusive to Record Store Day. We are doubly-pleased to find out that the soundtrack will be back on shelves for this year’s Record Store Day, with a slight twist.
The new version of the record will feature a photo disc, with two memorable scenes from the movie printed onto the disc, one on each side. You can see them both below:
This year’s Record Store Day will be held on November 29th (that’s Black Friday). For a list of participating stores, be sure to visit the Record Store Day website. Be sure to act fast – this record will be limited to just 3,000 copies.
