Noel MacNeal has been working as a Muppet performer/puppeteer, writer, and director on shows like Sesame Street, Bear in the Big Blue House, Eureeka’s Castle, The Puzzle Place, and many more since the ’80s, and he has a lot of great stories to tell. So it’s a good thing he’s written a memoir! It’s called “Hey, This Was Really Fun” – A Memoir from Sesame Street to The Big Blue House & Beyond. Man, I love it when Muppet people write memoirs.

If you want to ensure that you’ll get a copy of what’s sure to be a fascinating book, you should head over to Noel’s IndieGogo campaign right now to back the project. Based on his description on the campaign page, it sounds like he’s planning to go beyond all the standard stories he’s told in multiple interviews, so there’s sure to be some stuff in the book that even we Muppet geeks have never heard before.

Here’s how he describes the book:

What you’re going to read is my life in “the business we call show.” It’s my life and the lessons I’ve learned as a little pink bird, a baby dragon, a ninja turtle, a precocious inner-city kid, a lion cub, a talking hand with eyeballs, a profane squirrel, a bear in a big blue house, and, on occasion, a very big bird. Plus, all the monsters, grouches, talking food, writing, directing, producing, and appearances I’ve done along the way to this introduction. So, this is me and how this four-decade “dolly-wigglin’” career started. Because a grown man could make up many things.

This is not one of those occasions.

It sounds like it’s going to be a fun read, full of anecdotes and info. Depending on what level of support you pledge, you could receive a bookmark, an autographed copy of the book, a set of autographed photos, a personal greeting from Bear(!), or even a Zoom call with Noel MacNeal himself!

So go ahead — back the project today so you can get a copy to put on the bookshelf in your own big blue house!
