The theater world was saddened this week to learn that the legendary songwriter Stephen Sondheim has passed away. The writer or co-writer of dozens of memorable musicals from West Side Story to Into the Woods to Merrily We Roll Along to Gypsy, his music has influenced millions of fans. And among those fans, unsurprisingly, are the team behind the Muppets.
While Sondheim never got a chance to work directly with the Muppets, his iconic songs have made their way into several productions. So in honor of the great Stephen Sondheim, let’s revisit a few of our favorites.
