SNL 1975 – the upcoming biopic about the history of Saturday Night Live – has found its Jim Henson.
As you may know, the Muppets were a part of SNL‘s first season, with “The Land of Gortch” appearing throughout the show’s first year. The segment didn’t last beyond that, and Jim was left open to continue developing what would become The Muppet Show while SNL continues to this day.
So of course, Jim (and the rest of the Muppet team) are an integral part of SNL‘s history, which means we’ve been expecting to see an actor portray Jim on screen.
That actor has been found in Nicholas Braun. Braun is best known for his role as Greg Hirsch on Succession, and his credits also include Dream Scenario, Whisky Tango Foxtrot, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and Sky High.
With Braun’s casting, we are also expecting to see further Muppet-adjacent casting notices (including Frank Oz and Bernie Brillstein), as well as potentially new builds of The Land of Gortch characteers.
We’re excited to see this rare example of a Muppet performer being portrayed by another actor and to see what Braun will bring to the table!
