Cookie's Crumby Pictures

That cute show with puppets Sesame Street will begin its 44th(!) season on September 16, and Sesame Workshop has released all kinds of info on stuff to look forward to.

If you like spoilers, there’s a list of new episodes on the official website. Notable shows include one about a bunch of the humans on Sesame Street trying to impersonate the Count, and one about Ernie and Elmo making a movie and talking Bert into starring in it.

This year marks the debut of a new series of segments called “Cookie’s Crumby Pictures,” which are movie parodies starring Cookie Monster, fresh of his hit video with Tom Hiddleston. Here’s a preview of “The Biscotti Kid,” which prominently features a pun that I suspect will go completely over the heads of all the kids in the audience.

Other installments will include “Life of Whoopie Pie,” “The Spy Who Loved Cookies,” “Les Mousserables” and “The Hungry Games.”  Maybe someday we’ll see the sequel, “The Hungry Games: Catching Fur?”

Not surprisingly, it looks like Cookie Monster will be all over the show this season.  Here he is singing “Me Want It (But Me Wait)” (which you may have seen on this website a few weeks ago):

But he won’t be the only monster doing his thing.  Look: the Two-Headed Monster is going to show us how to take turns:

Oh hey, Sesame Street has a new human cast member this season! He’s Ismael Cruz Córdova, and his character’s name is Mando… but what we all really want to know is, what words rhyme with that name?

It wouldn’t be a new season of Sesame Street without a pop culture parody seemingly calculated to go viral on the internet — so here’s “Sons of Poetry.”

And if you think that’s an unlikely Sesame Street parody, get this: They’re also doing “Homelamb,” a parody of Homeland in which “sheep agents try to discover if Brody is or is not the Big Bad Wolf by comparing him to a picture of a real sheep.” There’s no clip of that on the official YouTube channel yet, but I can’t wait to see which Muppeteer plays the Mandy Patinkin sheep.

Here’s Cookie Monster yet again… in a sketch with our old friend Guy Smiley!  In this sketch, America’s favorite game show host is performed by Eric Jacobson, who’s played Guy a few times in recent years.

There are a few more new videos on the Sesame YouTube channel, but I don’t want to spoil the whole season, so I’ll let you check the rest out yourself.

But that’s not all!  You want celebrities? Sesame Street‘s bringing the goods again.  There’s a ton of guests this season — so many that I’m just going to quote directly from the press release:

An impressive line-up of celebrities and headline makers are featured in the new season, including Academy Award-winning and nominated actors Charlize Theron, Forest Whitaker and Anna Kendrick; Golden Globe-winning and nominated actors Lauren Graham and Sarah Michelle Gellar; Emmy Award- winning and nominated actors Hank Azaria, Audra McDonald, Tyra Banks, Benjamin Bratt and Tom Bergeron; Grammy Award-winning musicians Usher, Dave Matthews and Romeo Santos; Superman’s Henry Cavill; Game of Thrones’ Lena Headey and Peter Dinklage; True Blood’s Rutina Wesley; The Big Bang Theory’s Kunal Nayyar; How I Met Your Mother’s Cobie Smulders; Grey’s Anatomy’s Jesse Williams; Once Upon A Time’s Ginnifer Goodwin; Mike & Molly’s Billy Gardell; actors Tyler Perry, John Cho, Josh Gad and J.R. Martinez; Pittsburgh Steelers’ and NFL star safety Troy Polamalu; Houston Rockets’ center and NBA Slam Dunk Champion Dwight Howard; Los Angeles Angels’ star and three-time National League MVP Albert Pujols; Olympic Gold-medalist Evan Lysacek and musical group Pentatonix.

Hey, I’ve heard of most of those people!  In addition to the above, Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage and Broadway’s Audra McDonald will both be featured in street stories.

So that’s Sesame Street season 44!  You may now set your DVR.
