Two Muppet memes have been immortalized in civilization’s highest artform: Funko Pops! Released at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, these figures are now available to purchase on Funko.com.
If you’ve had enough of the “Tea Lizard,” that’s none of Funko’s business. This figure shows Kermit the Frog, looking less than amused, holding his “kermit.” mug. While that’s not accurate to the famous meme, it IS modeled after the mug he used on The Muppet Show! So you can just imagine him hearing Fozzie Bear pitching him a radical change to the show or Miss Piggy threatening to walk out! That’s the look I’d expect from Tea Liz… I mean, Kermit.
We’ve got not one, but TWO frustrated Muppets! Elmo holds his nemesis Rocco aloft. His eyes are tilted to show his bemusement, as if to say with just a gentle whisper, “How did Elmo get himself into this situation? How did a years-old clip of Elmo losing Elmo’s cool resurface to metaphorically chain Elmo to this stone in infamy, like a sick rendition of Sisyphus? Why do people delight in torturing Elmo? What did Elmo do to deserve this punishment?”
Both of these Pops! are limited edition, so be sure to grab them before they’re gone. That way, if the internet ever disappears, you can still have these memes in your life! But be sure to save some money for those NECA Sesame Street figures, which we also got a first look at at SDCC!
