America is headed for a kinder, larger tomorrow, as Muppet fans across the internet have voted to elect Big Bird as their next President! The next four years will be filled with songs about the alphabet, convincing others that imaginary friends are real, and being asked “How’s the weather up there, Mr. President?”
Big Bird and his running mate Mr. Snuffleupagus received an impressive 58% of the vote, beating our their opponents Miss Piggy and Fozzie Bear with a respectable 31%.
As you have likely deduced, that only adds up to about 89%. This year, we opened the ballot to write-in candidates, and we were pleased to see some… let’s say “interesting” choices. For example:
- Uncle Deadly
- Prairie Dawn
- Kermit
- Hare Krishna
- Gonzo / A sock puppet who is also Gonzo
- H. Ross Parrot
- Big-Fat-Ugly-Bug-Face-Baby-Eating-O’Brien
- Bobo
- Mr. Poodlepants / Herbert Birdsfoot
- Terry Calhoun
- Ernie / Bert (I suppose they could always be re-elected)
Good choices, everyone. But sadly, only a few actually received more than one or two votes. Though I can’t say I wouldn’t be curious as to what Mr. Poodlepants’ Presidency would look like.
