There’s Only One Thing That Would Make the Premiere of Muppets Now More Exciting

Muppets Now is just around the corner on Disney Plus, and I don’t know about you, but I’m getting excited for a slew of brand new Muppet content to be available for our binging pleasure. With the way 2020 has been unfolding, we could all use an inspirational, celebrational, Muppetational show to get us through the rest of this year!

The internet tells me every episode of Muppets Now will be split into three segments: a cooking show, a game show, and a talk show. From the sound of it, it’ll be an update of what we’ve come to know, adding a fresh twist on the variety format while still showcasing the characters we’ve all come to love, alongside their human guest stars.

Just think! Soon we’ll be back to watching Kermit, Piggy, Fozzie, and the gang! Getting up to all of their hilarious gags and antics! And who knows who else we’ll see! Uncle Deadly! Annie Sue! Wayne and Wanda! George the Janitor! Mildred Huxtetter! Nigel! Y’know, all those beloved characters who are still totally relevant today!

And with a cooking show segment, I’m sure we’re gonna get plenty of Swedish Chef. Just think of all the things he could do on this new Disney Plus show! Why, he could use a tennis racket to fling meatballs around the set! He could make a souffle that’s so light that it floats away! He could be attacked by a hoard of lobster banditos! He could be joined by totally not dead Danny Kaye! The possibilities are endless!

And a talk show portion? Please! We know there’s a line up of awesome people who will be appearing on Muppets Now, so these segments are sure to be great! You know Kermit’s gonna be so on it, sitting on stools, doing some sort of, oh I don’t know, talk spots? Panel discussions? I’m sure the frog, with his charm, will have it under control!

I don’t know what to expect from the game show format. Maybe something bonkers with Gonzo, like someone has to defuse a bomb with him while reciting Percy Bysshe Shelley in a certain amount of time – or they have to catch cannonballs with their bare hands! Or maybe a guest star has to guess what the banana sketch is through a series of charades!

Maybe Muppets Now will do a bit where Josh Gad hates being a guest star on the show and doesn’t even want to work with the Muppets, and the episode ends with all the Muppets singing Man of La Mancha songs at him!

Maybe John Legend will guest star and sing an updated cover of ‘Turn The World Around’!

Maybe Retta will sing opera with a gigantic carrot!

Maybe Gal Gadot will be introduced to Wonder Pig!

Maybe Pedro Pascal will sing a rendition of ‘Fever’ with Animal interrupting him with his drums in the background!

Maybe Laura Dern will do a big choreographed number with the Mutations in a diner!

Maybe Steve Martin will appear and play dueling banjos!

Maybe! Maybe! Maybe!

Or MAYBE, along with giving up Muppets Now, Disney could also give us The Muppet Showall five seasons – on their streaming site.

Look, we are grateful, excited, and just so happy to have this new Muppet show coming into our life. Muppets Now is going to be a breath of fresh air in the wake of a truly awful year. But, in a time where we are all stuck indoors and bored out of our minds / dealing with so much stress and anxiety, what better moment is there for Disney Plus to stream The Muppet Show? Just imagine how fast all of us would binge the show in its entirety.

Disney Plus has already proved its worth, especially in giving us a new Muppet show. Now, maybe, just maybe, give us the old one as well. Right now, more than ever, we would really like to have our cake and eat it too.
