We are saddened to learn that singer and songwriter Leon Redbone has passed away.  Famous for his deep voice and covers of blues and Tin Pan Alley songs (not to mention the theme song for Mr. Belvedere), Redbone also performed several times on Sesame Street.

Below, you’ll find three songs that highlight Leon Redbone’s unique vocals.

We thank Leon Redbone for his contributions to Sesame Street, and the inspiration he gave to characters like Dr. Teeth and Floyd Pepper, whose renditions of “Lazy Bones” and “Ain’t Misbehavin‘” are clearly modeled after Redbone’s performance.
