Last weekend – on October 29, 2022 – Kermit the Frog hopped uptown to New York City’s Lincoln Center for a live appearance at a show with musical group Choir!Choir!Choir! Seeing as the event was free, and because the Muppets took Manhattan (and, as far as I know, still obtain the rights to the island), we decided to attend.
We weren’t too familiar with Choir!Choir!Choir! beforehand, but it seems that they specialize in engaging audiences in participating in their songs. So in this case, they were teaching the audience how to sing the harmonies and counterparts to “Rainbow Connection” in preparation for Kermit’s big moment.
That meant that we – as an audience – sang “Rainbow Connection” over and over again for about a half hour. And then when Kermit finally showed up, we sang it three more times. We may jokingly complain that Kermit sings that song too much, but after an entire evening of it, I’ll never take it for granted again.
In any case, since we were sitting in the balcony (opposite the coveted “Statler and Waldorf” seats), we went ahead and filmed the whole dang thing. Well, the Kermit bits anyhow. And yes, we realize that the quality isn’t all that great, and it’s a little hard to hear, but consider this a lengthy tease for Choir!Choir!Choir!’s inevitable (and official) video, presumably coming soon.
So without further ado, please enjoy Kermit the Frog, Choir!Choir!Choir!, and a full Lincoln Center audience singing “Rainbow Connection,” “Rainbow Connection,” “Rainbow Connection,” and “What a Wonderful World”!
