RIP The Storyteller’s John Hurt

The best seat by the fire was always saved for the Storyteller.  And now that seat is empty, as the legendary John Hurt has passed away.

Sir John Hurt has dozens of familiar credits under his belt.  He was Oscar nominated for his role as the Elephant Man, he appeared as one incarnation of the Doctor on Doctor Who, he was featured in the famous chest-bursting scene in Alien, And starred in movies like V for Vendetta, Rob Roy, Ninteen Eighty-Four, and the Harry Potter franchise.  And that’s just the tip of the iceberg.

Around here, we know John Hurt best as the Storyteller, as seen in The Jim Henson Hour.  You can get a small taste of what went into Hurt’s performance in the Henson Company’s video below:
