Despite the fact that very few Muppets are built to have flexible faces, their characterizations are so nuanced and their performers are so talented, we wind up seeing them go loads of reactions, emotional wear-and-tear, and all sorts of tics that really bring them to life. Many artists out there tend to draw the Muppets the way they look, which is admirable, but it takes a rare talent to capture what the characters actually look like, beyond the puppet and into the core of who they are.
Jerry Regan is one of those artists, and as you’ll see in a moment, he really gets who these guys are. They’re mysterious, angry, dirty, obtuse, exhausted, hilarious, and so on and so on.
If you like Jerry’s work (and I’m sure you will), be sure to check out more of his work on his Instagram, and you can wear a few of his designs (including the Fozzie Bear one) by buying a shirt from his TeePublic page.
Many thanks to Jerry Regan for allowing us to share his phenomenal work!
