After seven years, The Jim Henson Exhibition: Imagination Unlimited is getting ready to say goodbye… at least to the United States.
The traveling exhibit, which launched in 2017, has announced it will make its final American stop at the Peoria Riverfront Museum in Peoria, Illinois, running from September 28, 2024 through January 5, 2025. After it closes, the exhibit will set out on a European tour. (No word if the puppets will be thrown out of a plane at 30,000 feet or if they’ll be travelling backwards by map on a train.) If the news gets you nostalgic, be sure to take a look back at our report from the exhibit’s first stop in Seattle!
Of course, while the traveling exhibit is heading overseas, the permanent version will remain open at the Museum of the Moving Image in Astoria, New York. While both editions offer similar sections based on Jim Henson’s life and career, the puppets and artifacts on display are different. But if you do happen to be near Peoria, we recommend checking it out!
