HasLab, Hasbro’s division that focuses on limited edition crowdsourced products, made a big announcement today. Like, really big. Like, a monster of an announcement.
HasLab has launched their campaign to make an officially licensed, life-sized, fuzzy and blue, extra hungry Cookie Monster replica!
We at ToughPigs (along with our pals at The Muppet Mindset) are proud to be working closely with the HasLab team to help make this exactly the sort of product Muppet fans demand.
The replica (or as we call it in Muppet fan circles, the photo puppet) will feature all sorts of articulation for maximum poseability, realistic fur, and (most importantly) googly eyes. He’s the same size as the actual Cookie Monster (at 38 inches tall and 20 inches wide). And he’ll come with a certificate of authenticity, two limited edition lithographs, and an accessory (to be revealed at a later date).

The Cookie Monster replica will cost $299.99. Yes, that’s a decent amount of change, but let’s be honest. That price is an absolute steal for what you’ll be getting in return. I would’ve assumed a product like this would cost double.
Here’s how their crowdsourcing project works: If you’re interested in buying one (and let’s be honest: you are interested), you’ll want to join the campaign and pledge $299.99. (Don’t worry, you won’t be charged until the campaign is over.) If 3,000 people contribute by August 25th, then Hasbro will move forward with Cookie.
If the campaign doesn’t receive 3,000 backers by August 25th, then he won’t be made at all, and the only Cookie Monster we’ll get is the one we get to watch on TV. Further, if you haven’t backed the campaign in that time, then you’ll have missed your chance completely. This is the only opportunity you’ll have to buy the Cookie replica.
There are two ways you can help. First: We highly encourage you to contribute to this campaign and secure your own personal Cookie Monster. Second: You can share the link with everyone you know to help spread the word. Remember, we need to get to 3,000 backers to make Cookie happen!
