Someone needed to create choreography for the Muppets.  What, you think they made up their dance moves themselves?

We’re saddened to learn that Dame Gillian Lynne, who served as the choreographer on The Muppet Show, has passed away.

Lynne is credited on IMDb for 17 episodes of The Muppet Show (and knowing IMDb, it’s likely more).  Here are just a couple examples that we know of:

In 1977, Lynne won a Rose d’Or award for her work on The Muppet Show, which is more than well deserved.

In addition to her Muppet work, Lynne also choreographed both Cats and Phantom of the Opera for the stage.

As you can see, her work has been incredibly important to the Muppets.  Without choreography, they’re just wiggling dolls, and Gillian Lynne saw to making them the best they could be.
