Join us for a week-long celebration of Muppet performer Fran Brill! Fran recently announced her retirement from performing, so we’re dedicating a week’s worth of articles to her colorful career with Sesame Street and the Muppets. Today’s article was written by Jarrod Fairclough. Thanks, Jarrod!
The ToughPigs little theatre takes pride in presenting ‘Fran Brill’s Most ‘Brill’iant Songs’
Oh welcome, Oh welcome to our little play
We’re ever so glad you could join us today
As we celebrate a woman with impeccable skill
The one and the only, the awesome Fran Brill.
After 44 years she’s saying farewell
She’s taught us to count and she’s taught us to spell
She’s sang to the masses and sang to the throngs
So let me tell you some of my favourite songs.
1 – My Name Is Zoe
My Name Is Zoe is a song that is fast
You can tell that Fran Brill is just having a blast
Someone give Zoe something to make her calm
That must have been a strain on poor Fran Brill’s arm.
2 – Two Princes
This one’s a parody of a one hit wonder
This band petered out in a massive blunder
But Zoe is awesome as a sassy princess
Trying to choose which play date would be best.
3 – Wavin’ Goodbye To You With My Heart
Polly Darton isn’t around anymore
She’s got the best voice of any character, for sure
A parody of Dolly Parton, she can really sing
And has probably had less work done than the real life thing.
4 – All By Myself
A song by Prairie Dawn, what a wonderful sight
I could listen to that little girl sing all night
Just look at the things she can do on her own
Pour juice, brush hair, and apply for a bank loan.
5 – I Think That It Is Wonderful
Prairie Dawn really likes to smell a rose
I don’t get quite how since she has no real nose
I’ll suspend my belief though and I won’t call bull
And honestly I think that it is wonderful
6 – I’m In Love With A Big Blue Frog
This one’s a bit different and from long ago
It’s a rare Fran appearance on The Muppet Show
She sings about being in love with a frog
That sounds like a song that should be sung by a hog.
So that is just 6 of thousands of songs
That Fran sang to the masses and sang to the throngs
Just jump on YouTube and watch so much more
That site is just Fran Brill videos galore!
In all seriousness though, thanks for everything, Fran. Sesame Street will never be the same without you.
