There are lots of Disney games where you can collect characters from different franchises — and it’s often disappointing when the Muppets are left out of the fun. That’s been true on the mobile game Disney Magic Kingdoms since it launched in 2016, but the game studio is finally correcting that mistake.
Disney Magic Kingdoms is a city-building game that allows you to create a bustling little Disney theme park on your phone, full of attractions and characters based on Disney movies. When you unlock a character, you can send them on little quests to collect tokens that are used to level up other characters from the same franchise. The game’s been running for seven years, and they’ve added just about every Disney animation character that they can — recently featuring all-time non-favorites like The Aristocats and The Black Cauldron.
But the Muppets are finally going to make their entrance in the game this week, during a “mega-event” that starts on December 14th and runs through January 4th. That means we’ll have Muppets strolling around in the park doing cute things, and we can add Muppet*Vision 3D as a park attraction!
There are five Muppet characters that the player can unlock: Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy, Rowlf the Dog, Animal, and the Swedish Chef. (The Swedish Chef is the premium character for the event, who can only be unlocked using gems or actual cash money.) It’s an interesting set of characters – I was expecting to see Fozzie and Gonzo in there — but the animation of Rowlf playing his piano is really adorable, and it’s nice to see him included.
Here’s the full rundown of items included in the event:
- Characters: Kermit, Miss Piggy, Rowlf, Animal, and the Swedish Chef
- Attractions: Muppet*Vision 3D, Kermit’s Swamp
- Concessions: an Animal mask, and a Sam the Eagle Sipper
- Parade float: Dr. Teeth on a float decorated like the Electric Mayhem bus
- Decorations: The Fork in the Road, and a gold trophy shaped like the hood ornament on Gonzo’s plumbing truck
You can see all the new additions in this event walkthrough video:
If you’ve never played the game before and you want to play with the Muppet content, then you’d better get started right away, because you have to reach a certain level to participate in events.
