DannyepsteinThey say that celebrity deaths come in threes. But I didn’t know that Muppet-related celebrity deaths came in threes too.

After saying goodbye Muppet Show guest star Lorene Yarnell and Muppet Show bandleader Jack Parnell, we’re saddened to announce the passing of Danny Epstein, the former musical director on Sesame Street.

Danny Epstein started with Sesame Street as the percussionist in Joe Raposo’s house band on Sesame Street at the show’s inception in 1969. Eventually he became the director of musical operations on the Street and worked on the show until his retirement in 2009.

For more about Danny Epstein, including over an hour’s worth of interviews with the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences in 2004, take a look at his page on the Muppet Wiki.
